A novel post-processing approach to automatic motion artifact suppression in magnetic resonance imaging is presented. The main advantage of this approach is its treatment of a more practical spatially variant translational motion model that is fundamentally different from previous work in the literature. The validity of this technique is confirmed through application to correct computer simulated images.
