Abstract

Crustacea Marine
Whereas various crustaceans in Norwegian fjords drift passively with the currents, others remain in specific and predictable locations. The presented examples include mysids, shrimps, euphausiids and copepods; the preferred habitat of these crustaceans appears to be determined by the bottom topography. It is suggested that some plankters may gain a potential adaptive advantage by maintaining their horizontal positions above suitable bathymetry.
