Abstract
This chapter provides an overview of material used for manufacturing. One of the most important aspects of material science involves the study of material's structure. Introducing a new product or changing an existing one involves many decisions. Although these decisions may seem to be independent, they will have a significant impact on the overall product life cycle, which will in turn influence cost, performance, and service.
