Abstract
The recent progress in mechanistic studies in the field of homogeneous gold catalysis is discussed. This covers vinylgold(I) intermediates derived from alkynes or allenes, allylgold intermediates that are based on additions to allenes, and vinylidenegold(I) intermediates derived from diynes. Part of that discussion is gem‐diaurated species, gold(I) dual activation catalysts, and sp3‐C,H activation, as well as the role of gold(I) hydrides and protons in gold catalysis.
