The DECAFE (Dynamique Et Chimie Atmosphérique en Forêt Equatoriale) project was set up to study meteorological and chemical processes in and above the rain forest of equatorial Africa. This project makes use of a combination of aircraft, balloon, and ground measurements of chemical and physical parameters at several sites in equatorial Africa. The DECAFE-88 experiment was carried out near Impfondo in the rain forest region of the northern Congo during February 1988.
