Abstract
In addition to all serious and often life‐threatening complications that patients with cirrhosis face on a daily basis, many other systemic symptoms and disease entities significantly compromise their quality of life. Attention to these symptoms such as fatigue, depression, sleep disturbances, and autonomic and cardiac abnormalities require awareness and early recognition, a multidisciplinary team of caregivers, and a systematic stepwise management approach. Because of the complexity of these symptoms, a holistic approach to the patient from physical, psychological, and social aspects is mandatory for a better quality of life and functional capacity.
