Abstract
Communication is the tool for sharing, acquiring and exploring ideas and knowledge. Different languages are used for communicating ideas and literary works (including science). Translation plays a very important role across all different languages, including the Arabic language. Saudi Arabia, through the King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST), has a vision of building a knowledge-based society and economy and a globally competitive national system for science, technology and innovation (STI). The strategic direction is for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to reach the ranks of developed countries in STI by the year 2030 through projects on scientific translation and scientific awareness outreach programmes, thus making science available for all.

Scientific translation brings knowledge and information in the global spectrum of the changing science and technology. Communication in either verbal or non-verbal is one of the effective tool in knowledge transfer between civilizations. The historical development of the translation from Arabic to English and vice versa showed that there exists a knowledge gap in the process of translation. The mechanism for the development of scientific awareness is through scientific translation from different languages to Arabic language. It was a national effort to enrich the Arabic content of science and technology on the web.
