Abstract
In recent years different aspects of structural organization, functioning and evolution of chloroplast genomes of various species has been the subject of intensive investigation. (1). To date GenBank and other databases contain complete chloroplast genomes, at least, of 10 different species (tobacco, rice, maize, black pine, liverwort, syanobacteria, etc.). Contrariwise, little is known about the organization of chloroplast genome of chickpea (Cicer arietinum). In this connection, the aim of the present work was elusidation of some pecularities of organization and evolution of chickpea chloroplast genome by restriction analysis and partial sequencing of chloroplast DNA (chDNA) of some species of chickpea in comparision with the available data.
