Abstract

Life Sciences & Biomedicine Science & Technology Veterinary Sciences Zoology
The foot pad glands of dromedary were studied. The glands were situated in the dermis at a depth of about 2.4 mm from the surface and their density was 76-80 per cm(2). The glands were branched, coiled and tubular in form with merocrine type of secretion. The secretory end-pieces comprised of the light and dark cells. Possible role of these glands in thermal regulation of foot pads is discussed.
