Abstract
This chapter is a descriptive analysis of early intervention services available to individuals with disabilities and their families in Saudi Arabia. The goals of this chapter are three-fold:
(1) to provide readers a realistic view of the status of early intervention (EI) services in Saudi Arabia, (2) to increase official attention to the imperative need to reform EI services as a national research-based initiative, and (3) to offer suggestions on possible action plans for the EI reform process. At a minimum, a goal of this chapter is to increase awareness on the need for undertaking the prevention or at least reduction in the prevalence of disabilities and to highlight the associated stressors encountered by the individual, family, government, and society as a whole.
