Abstract
During a survey of the insect fauna of Asir, south-western Saudi Arabia, using mainly Malaise traps and sweep nets, 47 known species of Muscidae were identified and are recorded in this study. Twenty-two of these species are reported for the first time from Saudi Arabia. Biological information and the worldwide geographic distribution of all species are included, together with taxonomic remarks where appropriate. In addition to the results of our investigation, all the available literature on the Muscidae of Saudi Arabia is summarized.
