Abstract
In this work, a circular shaped microstrip line fed miniaturized patch antenna is presented for high speed fifth generation (5G) communication applications. The antenna prototype is designed and analyzed by using CST studio suite 3D electromagnetic (EM) simulation software. The prototype is made by the low cost commercially available substrate material named flame resistant four (FR4) having the dielectric-constant of 4.3. The optimized dimension of the proposed antenna is of 18 × 17 × 1.605 mm 3 . The projected antenna has circular shaped patch, partial ground plane and line stripe microstrip fed line. The designed antenna covers the higher 5G frequency band ranging from 24 GHz to 31 GHz under the -10 dB scale. The obtained efficiency is around 60 percent and maximum gain of 5 dB is achieved. The designed antenna is proposed as a candidate for higher 5G applications.
