Abstract
The objective of the present work is to implement a control-volume based on finite-element method CVFEM to solve inciting and solidification problems (Stefan problems). The numerical method was applied to the inciting of a pure material in a square enclosure. The enclosure is heated by the vertical left wall and cooled by the opposite side. The rest of walls are adiabatic. The mathematical model includes the effect of natural convection. The solutions of the CVFEM are compared to experimental and numerical results, good agreements have been obtained.
