Abstract
This paper presents a small dual notched band printed monopole antenna. Dimensions of the antenna are 32 mm x 29.3 mm x 1.6 mm. The antenna is designed for Ultra-Wide Band (UWB) applications. The impedance bandwidth of the antenna is 2.9-16 GHz with VSWR < 2, except the bandwidth of 3.1-4.1 GHz and 4.9-5.9 GHz, used for WiMAX and WLAN applications respectively. A large wide slot is added to the radiating patch to obtain the stop band of 3.1-4.1 GHz and a small narrow slot is used to obtain the stop band of 4.9-5.9 GHz. The presented design is printed on a FR4 low cost dielectric substrate. The antenna is simulated using Agilent Advance Design System. Radiation pattern, VSWR and various other parameters are also discussed in detail.
