Abstract
This paper presents the electronic design of a low-cost, non-invasive, patient centric device, for early diagnosis of Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy (DPN). Through detecting hot, cold and vibration sensation of a diabetic patient and calibrating it with respect to a healthy person, the device provides a quantitative evaluation of level of neuropathy. A companion smartphone application, connected to the device via Bluetooth, is utilized to initiate the tests and control the stimulators. The test results are analyzed in the smart phone and displayed through a user-friendly interface. Being self-operated, the proposed device aims to obviate the need of expensive and cumbersome laboratory tests for diabetic patients and the regular monitoring reduces the chances of diabetic foot.
