Abstract
The issue of simulating a matched load for a planar transmission line is addressed in the context of method of moments (MoM). A novel approach, which varies the loading on the line in a tapered manner is proposed to absorb the incident wave and to mimic a matched termination. The approach allows us to numerically model a general multiport network faithfully, even when the feedline has multiple transverse segments. The details of implementation of the matched load in a MoM code are presented and some numerical results are included to illustrate the efficacy of this novel approach for simulating a matched termination.
