Abstract
Electromagnetic Pulses (EMP) can seriously disrupt the operation of electronic instruments [1]. Traditional methods to measure the EMP mainly focused on the techniques in designing testing probes. This paper presents a new approach to measuring the field strength of EMP focusing on the processing techniques of the measured data. By utilizing the signal processing techniques, the method significantly lowers the requirements on the specifications of testing instruments and can theoretically achieve distortionless measurement. The method is inexpensive and easy to implement, with wide applications ranging from electromagnetic shielding to electromagnetic compatibility issues.
