Abstract
This paper presents a study on novel high gain switched inductor multilevel buck-boost converter. High gain DC-DC converters are preferred for solar applications to step up the output voltage from PV arrays. Due to the limitation on duty cycle, high gain is not feasible in conventional buck-boost converter. This drawback is overcome by multilevel buck-boost converter using capacitor-diode multiplier. The gain increases with increase in number of multiplier levels. The switched inductor multilevel buck-boost converter gives gain higher than conventional and multilevel buck-boost converter at a respective level. This topology is single switch DC-DC converter with high frequency due to which circuit layout is optimized and gate complexity is also reduced. The main advantage is that gain increases with increase in the number of levels without disturbing the main circuit by providing modularity. The simulation is carried out using MATIAB/SIMULINK.
