Abstract
In wireless networks, providing a high fairness allocation is becoming a very challenging task. This paper has two objectives: firstly, we proposed a new optimization problem called Satisfaction Probability which consists in maximizing the number of satisfied users and secondly, we proposed a new scheduling scheme called QoE-aware Multi-step Opportunistic (QEMO) scheduler. QEMO is built in an extended cross-layer design. It takes in consideration not only the transmission conditions but also the QoS experienced by the users. Based on an opportunistic weighted scheme, our scheduler takes a maximum advantage of multiuser diversity optimizing fairness and system capacity. This ensures an efficient support of multimedia services in OFDMA wireless networks. Performance evaluation shows that this well-balanced resource allocation scheme outperforms other well known opportunistic scheduler (MaxSNR, PF and RR) and demonstrate that choosing between high system capacity and high fairness is not required.
