Abstract
Separation Anxiety is a common case in preschoolers and causes serious problems. During the current period with the COVID 19 pandemic, the transferal to the online school environment will likely rise this separation anxiety problem. This paper presents a novel approach for managing separation anxiety disorder in preschoolers. More particularly, the proposed approach consists of developing a mediated social touch prototype and a game-based application. The prototype is a multimodal interface supporting audio-based dialogue and heat distributor to simulate hugging and playing. The developed application will be in Arabic and is targeting Arabic-speaking preschoolers specifically in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
