Abstract
Single mode optical fibre have very small diameter which is of the order of 30 mu m. Various gadgets are available on the market which are used for polishing the end faces of optical fibre. The author faced this problem during his experimentation, however, it was overcome by utilizing capillary action techniques. A glass capillary tube having thick walls was used. The fibre was packed into the capillary using a liquid rasin. The rasin was then solidified so as to hold the optical fibre firmly. The total assembly was then polished with the help of a polishing wheel to achieve the desired results.
