Abstract
This paper describes the simulation based dynamic probabilistic risk assessment model ADS IDA (Analyzer of Dynamic Systems - Information, Decision, Action). The model consists of three basic modules: Scheduler, Plant, and Operator Modules. Unique features of ADS-IDA include: 1) A modular structure that allows the basic modules to be replaced as needed. 2) The implementation of the IDA methodology for human reliability. ADS-IDA can be used to: (1) Perform a full scale dynamic PRA of a Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) or other systems. (2) Identify and analyze human errors and their causes, as well as the effect of timing of operator response. (3) Run cases not covered by the current PRAs, such as instrument failure or miscalibration. (4) Test the relevance of the operating procedures (emergency or abnormal). (5) Investigate the effect of different system failure modes, and the time of system failure on the progression of the accident.
