Abstract
A solid state laser Doppler anemometer system has been produced. This offers significant advantages in terms of cost, portability, robustness, and ease of operation when compared with the more conventional systems routinely used for the measurement of the velocity of a flowing fluid. The new system is unusual in combining is believed to have considerable potential for application in tie measurement of process system performance. The paper reviews the design and constructional considerations underlying the. new system and then presents experimental data to show its performance.
