Abstract
This paper investigates a modified version of web-based instrumentation and control over other old techniques. This modified method adopts Java Applet classes to provide a suitable graphical interface on the client-side browser where the main intention is to enhance the interaction between tile user and the interfaced equipment on the server side. For assessment purposes of this scheme, a simple laboratory model for digital I/O of lighting system has been constructed on the server side and tile acquired data has been operated and examined by the remotely located user. Among other features, this scheme possesses flexibility, reliability, and enhanced security as compared to other conventional techniques.
