Abstract
Conference Title: 2018 IEEE Applied Power Electronics Conference and Exposition (APEC) Conference Start Date: 2018, March 4 Conference End Date: 2018, March 8 Conference Location: San Antonio, TX, USA In this paper, a modified single-phase self-synchronized synchronverter is proposed. The proposed controller retains all the merits of the original synchronverter, such as adding virtual inertia to the grid and providing the grid with frequency and voltage support without the need for a phase-locked loop (PLL). The fundamental idea behind this behavior is mimicking the synchronous machines. Furthermore, the proposed controller resolves the power limitation problem of the original synchronverter to protect the inverter from damage. The effectiveness of the proposed controller is verified by simulation and experimental results. The simulation results are carried out by Matlab/Simulink. A 100W single-phase PWM inverter prototype controlled by a DSPACE 1006 feeding a single-phase grid is constructed to experimentally validate the proposed idea.
