Abstract
Cell therapy is based on the concept that stem cells can proliferate and differentiate into specialized cells, to replace the dead ones and to allow the functional recovery of a damaged tissue. Although at the beginning this therapy appeared quite promising, real and long term results have not yet been achieved. The reason of many uncertain results is likely to be the lack of rigorous procedures clearly indicated by standardized protocols. This chapter is a contribution to the set up of a procedure for the selection of the cells and their implant in heart repair.
