Abstract
Recovery of Al from drosses has a significant economic impact on the US Al industry. Today's modern dross processor uses the latest technology to maximize metal recovery at the lowest cost while complying with all environmental laws and regulations. However, some industry business policies continue to encourage start-up of small local processors who emphasize short term profits at the expense of sound environmental procedures. Some of these factors are discussed and a comparison is made with practices developed in the steel industry where long term metal recovery arrangements exist with reputable service companies.--AA(US).
