Abstract
Conference Title: 2018 IEEE 3rd International Conference on Signal and Image Processing (ICSIP) Conference Start Date: 2018, July 13 Conference End Date: 2018, July 15 Conference Location: Shenzhen, China This work deals with the design and development of smart lightning and surveillance for the outdoor Saudi companies. It focuses on finding out an efficient solution for improving the energy consumption and performance of the outdoor lightning and surveillance. The idea is to embed the event-driven feature in the devised system. It avoids the unnecessary lightning and surveillance activities in the non-working hours and locations. Therefore, results into an improved energy consumption and operation cost efficiency. In the absence of an activity, the suggested system lightning and surveillance modules will be deactivated after a programmed short time interval. It will improve the system performance in terms of power consumption and resources utilization as compared to the counter traditional ones. It will reduce the overall electricity consumption and therefore the cost efficiency of the company. A system prototype is realized. It is based on smart event-driven nodes. Each node is an effective combination of an assembly of sensors, actuators, cameras, solid-state lighting and an embedded controller. Different nodes are interlinked via a Central Processing Unit (CPU). The proposed system functionality is tested with an experimental setup. Results have confirmed a proper system operation.
