Abstract
Process of combining materials that are widely used in many applications in industry. In the welding process, the temperature given to a metal causes a non-uniform temperature distribution which will cause residual stress and distortion, especially in the SUS 304 stainless steel plate material and SS 400 steel plate. Especially for welding currents 80 A and 100 A. The research was conducted with various current welding experiments in order to get the results in the form of maximum tensile strength (MTS) and hardness for later analysis. From the results of tensile testing we can calculate that the maximum tensile strength and strain technique contained in the specimen with a welding current of 80 A with U-s = 60,6 kgf/mm(2) dan epsilon t = 10,89 %. Whereas in specimens with 100 A current the maximum tensile strength and strain technique are U-s=61,24 kgf/mm(2) and Et = 8,22 %. From the two variations of welding currents (80 A and 100 A) also obtained the results of hardness testing in which the area of hardness value is higher than the main metal namely SUS 304 stainless steel and SS 400 steel.
