Abstract
Conference Title: 2017 Saudi Arabia Smart Grid (SASG) Conference Start Date: 2017, Dec. 12 Conference End Date: 2017, Dec. 14 Conference Location: Jeddah, Saudi Arabia Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) is the new technology used remotely by SEC for measuring the energy transferred between Generation, transmission, and distribution. The AMR is important for economic and technical performance of SEC since its accurate measurements can be utilized for improvements and hence contributing to the performance excellence of the smart grid. This would help the company to achieve its fifteen strategic objectives within the Saudi Vision 2030 set by the Ministry of Energy, Industry, and Mineral Resources in the National Transformation Program 2020. This paper investigates the actual situation of the AMR used in SEC and search for improvement opportunities. Real field data were collected concerning the accuracy check test of the AMR system; Data analysis is performed using quality tools. Problems were identified and root cause analysis was performed. From these analysis, recommendations can be made that would contribute to achieving excellence performance of SEC smart grid.
