Abstract
The design and simulation of a microstrip patch antenna for 5G mobile networks is presented in this paper. The antenna operates at the Local Multipoint Distribution Service band having a center frequency at 28 GHz. The antenna was designed on a Rogers RT Duroid 5880 of height 0.5mm and a dielectric constant of 2.2. Slits were introduced unto the patch to enhance the bandwidth, gain of the antenna. Simulation results obtained showed a return loss of -23.6 dB, with a wide bandwidth of 1.23 GHz and a gain of 6.35 dB which makes it suitable for deployment in 5G applications.
