Abstract
The increase in population will be accompanied by an increase of chronic diseases and medical conditions. This growing problem of disease will require efficient systems to reduce the burden on healthcare providers. In order to improve the life expectancy of patients with a chronic disease, this research will propose a big data analytics system using cloud-based technologies for patients suffering from chronic diseases. Continued innovation in the area of health information technology (health IT) will help providers to reduce inefficiencies and improve the health system's capabilities. By investing in technology tools like big data analytics, health providers have the opportunity to improve diagnosis and preventative care, save lives and lower costs by monitoring and managing patients more effectively in their homes. The proposed system works as a guide for lifestyle, and as a tool to support the decision-making. It is envisaged that this system will be able to gather large volumes of patient data and report on a patient's health status in real time.
