Abstract

Antenna measurements Biological system modeling Cellular phones Electromagnetic radiation Equations Finite difference methods Humans Specific absorption rate Time domain analysis Voltage
The finite difference time domain (FDTD) method is employed to simulate the effects of the cell phone radiation on the human body. A sub-domain approach is used in conjunction with the "cell" method to increase the field accuracy in the head region close to the antenna without sacrificing the time step. The approach is first validated with a canonical problem and then employed for the estimation of the specific absorption rate (SAR) in the head.
