Conference Title: INTERMAG 2015 - IEEE International Magnetics Conference Conference Start Date: 2015, May 11 Conference End Date: 2015, May 15 Conference Location: Beijing, China In recent years, permanent magnet (PM) machines have received increasing attention for direct-drive applications due to its high efficiency and improved power density performances [1]. In [2], a linear stator permanent magnet vernier (LSPMV) machine is proposed, in which the stator consists of an iron core wound with distributed windings and PMs mounted on the surface of the stator teeth, while the translator is designed as a simple iron core with salient teeth so that it is very robust to transmit high thrust force. Based on the magnetic gear effect, the LSPMV machine possesses the advantages such as low speed, high thrust force density and low detent force. So the LSPMV machine is considered to be one of the preferred machines for direct-drive applications.
