Abstract
a novel low-cost chipless radio frequency identification (RFID) tag is presented. The tag is a patch loaded with two slots for data encoding where a single resonator encodes two bits instead of a single bit. We present a design of a 4-bit tag using frequency shift technique within the frequency band between 17.0 and 27.0 GHz. The proposed method is based on the absence or presence of resonances, as well as the resonant frequency shifts to encode data bits.
