Abstract

The discovery of a pulsar with a period of about 1.556 ms (Backer et al., 1982) is reported, clearing up the mystery surrounding the enigmatic source 4C21.53. An exposition of the history of the search process is given, and results from the timing program, the pulse waveform, the distance, and the origin of the pulsar are discussed.
