Abstract
An analysis of a compact patch antenna with a folded patch feed and shorting wall for wireless local area network (WLAN) applications in IEEE 802.11a/b/g is presented in this paper. The proposed antenna covers both 2.4/5 GHz bands with two resonances that are caused by trapezoidal slot combining with folded-patch. The lower band of the antenna ranges from 2.39 to 2.52 GHz (about 5.14% impedance bandwidth), while the upper band covers from 5.03 to 6.34 GHz (19.8% impedance bandwidth). Radiation patterns and gain across the frequency band are also discussed in this paper.
