Abstract
Ce3+-substituted barium ferrite powder with chemical composition BaCexFe(12-x)O(19) (where x= 0.2 and 0.8) have been synthesized by using sol-gel auto-combustion. The X-ray diffractometer (XRD) patterns show that with the increase Ce3+ content, the lattice constants (a and c) increased. SEM images show the formation of hexagonal platelet like strncture. Magnetic measurements show the increase in magnetic saturation (Ms) and remenant magnetization (M-s,) to 56.68emu/g and 29.66emu/g respectively. The coercivity (He) decreased to 3357.26Oe with increase in compositions from x= 0.2 to 0.8. The dielectric behavior of synthesized barinm ferrite powders were measured by the vector network analyzer (VNA) for the X-band (8.2 - 12.4 GHz) freqnency range.
