Abstract

The established theory of transient energy growth is extended here to investigate the amplification of energy in space for a nonparallel, i.e., growing, boundary layer. It is shown that a substantial gain in energy can be achieved before the asymptotic behavior dominates the growth in energy. (AIAA)
