Efficient metadata management is decisive for a useful resource discovery for example in digital libraries. In this paper, we present a transformation of library metadata in METS/MODS format into JSON, so that it can be managed by the CouchDB document database. In this way, metadata searching and analysis became much faster and new features could be added to the legacy system.
