Abstract
In digital image watermarking, selecting an appropriate domain for hiding the watermark according to application is a very important issue, since it directly affects on the performance of the watermarking schemes. In order to increase efficiency and to fulfill the main important issues like imperceptibility, capacity, robustness and security, it is crucial to be aware of the role of the different domains according to the specifications that each domain technique potentially and innately offers. In this research we investigate the role of the different domain techniques in digital image watermarking and categorize them based on the application and specifications which are proposed by each domain.
