Abstract
Conference Title: 2016 IEEE SENSORS Conference Start Date: 2016, Oct. 30 Conference End Date: 2016, Nov. 3 Conference Location: Orlando, FL, USA Gold (Au) nanoelectrode ensembles (NEEs) were investigated after the synthesis of silicon nanowires using the metal assisted chemical etching technique. Structural and non-destructive optical characterization of silicon nanowires are carried out to determine its morphology and crystallinity. The cyclic voltammetry technique is used to determine the oxidation-reduction potentials of the sensor at different voltage scan rates of 100, 200, and 300 mV/s. Amperometric measurement at a fixed oxidation potential of 0.6 V is performed to measure the sensitivity, response time, and detection limit of the sensor. The presence of Au NEEs improve the signal to noise ratio of the sensor. Therefore, the sensor exhibits a high sensitivity of 0.4 mA/mM cm2 with a response time of 1 s, and a limit of detection 0.077 mM.
