Conference Title: 2015 2nd International Conference on Electronics and Communication Systems (ICECS) Conference Start Date: 2015, Feb. 26 Conference End Date: 2015, Feb. 27 Conference Location: Coimbatore, India Genetic algorithm is considered to have a relatively slow convergence rate and space time adaptive processing is considered to be computationally intensive. So, combining both of them in one processing scheme may result in an inapplicable approach to real time applications. This paper presents a new fast direct data domain genetic algorithm beam forming approach to space time adaptive processing. The proposed approach will significantly reduce the number of computations required by the genetic-algorithm-based beam forming technique compared to the earlier version of the method. So, this fast beam forming technique will be more suitable for real time applications. The proposed approach performance will be tested using uniformly spaced real antenna array elements. The method of moments is used to evaluate the mutual coupling effects between the elements of the array and then the transformation matrix method will be used to compensate for these undesired effects. The matrix pencil method will be used to estimate the direction of arrivals of all coming signals. Finally, the genetic algorithm will be used for array beam forming and the formed beam pattern capability to reconstruct the signal of interest will be investigated.
