Abstract
In this paper, we suggest an electric vehicle (EV) system. It is based on the rotor-field-oriented control of the induction motor (IM). The IM is feed by the five-level H-Bridge inverter. The Phases Disposition Carrier-Pulse Width Modulation PDC-PWM is used to command the multilevel inverter. The system reliability and stability is very important, therefore, we propose a fault detection and isolation system in the five-level H-Bridge inverter applied to the electric transportation system. Recently, in the high-power applications, the five-level inverter is largely used owing to its typical performance. Nevertheless, it is possible that a fault affects this electronic equipment and causes damage to the system. Hence, the main purpose of this paper is to detect and to locate the faults then replaces the damaged equipment with another one. In this context, the fault diagnosis of the H-bridge multilevel inverter system is based on an implemented algorithm to localize the defection and isolate it by replacing the defected cell with a rescue cell. This localization is based on the current evaluation, due to its value and THD percentage, the defected cell can be easily detected, and thus, the correction can be quick and effective. The proposed algorithm is implemented by means of MATLAB/Simulink in order to realize the needed corrections.
