Abstract
Alternative energy will be necessary with the increase in pollution from conventional fuels and the decline in major energy resources. The uncertainty in the continuity and stability of the energy produced from conventional fuels, whether in quantity or price, is the problem that we currently have to deal with. To confront such a dilemma, Saudi Arabia and many countries are moving to create renewable energy a reality due to the present necessity considering the effects and consequences of global warming we are currently experiencing which a dire and very alarming. Prices from wind energy are now low compared to energy from conventional fuels. As a result, their economic viability has increased and wind turbines have become more efficient and affordable. Asir region is in a position to provide leadership to its citizens and other cities across the Kingdom and neighboring countries by developing a renewable energy program that will promote clean energy development. A model was performed in Homer software to validate the feasibility of wind turbines in Asir. The results show the wind penetration is 142% and the carbon emission has decreased to more than 70%.
