Femtosecond laser ablation of cryogenically solidified CH4 using a peak intensity 8x10(14) W/cm(2) at 800 nm has been studied using time of flight mass spectroscopy. Spectra show the presence of hydrocarbon species with molecular mass higher than the original target molecule.
