Abstract
Conference Title: 2018 1st International Conference on Advanced Research in Engineering Sciences (ARES) Conference Start Date: 2018, June 15 Conference End Date: 2018, June 15 Conference Location: Dubai, United Arab Emirates This paper describes the effects of some external faults on the frequency response analysis (FRA) signatures of medium voltage distribution transformer. Due to practical limitations, the laboratory experiments were limited to the external faults only. In addition, some computer simulation studies were also carried out using a transformer model reported in the literature to examine the frequency response analysis (FRA) signatures for a few selected cases. This paper shows that FRA signatures of experimental results as well as simulations are in reasonable agreement with each other. The obtained results can be helpful for engineers and researchers for further research in diagnosing the faults using the FRA method.
