Abstract
Reading from printed books gets harder and insufficient. E-books allow a convenient multitasking yet uncommon within local communities due to the lack of marketing the non-academic e-books. Furthermore, in average Saudi Arabia consumes more electricity than the rest of the world. Evidently, such problems require a solution that goes with the fast pace lifestyle, and the technology development. The objective of this paper is to design a Green Smart E-library Station (GSES) that combines public phone chargers and a digital library available at public areas and parks aiming at promoting e-books while charging electronic devices using renewable (solar) energy sources. The station is powered with solar panels based on calculated power load, digital simulation and specifies measurements in a laboratory with respect to different weather scenarios. Accurate energy and power calculations have been performed by creating digital simulation programs on MATLAB. The station delivers green solutions by utilizing renewable energy and digital books. The significance of the project relies on its affordability, independence and clean energy source with significant long-term benefits. Such station would be very beneficial and could be installed in public parks and University campuses.
