Abstract
This paper presents a loss sensitivity factor (LSF) technique for improving the voltage profile of the grid connected photovoltaic (PV) system. Now a days, many of governments are encouraging people to install PV systems in their rooftops, agriculture fields, office buildings to increase the power supplies and reduce the power generation by using conventional energy sources like coal, diesel, etc. Continue increase of integration these PV power plants to grid will affect the voltage profile of the grid. Hence, maintaining the grid supply voltage within the limit and integration of generated PV power without deficient is a big challenge. The proposed loss sensitivity factor techniques is uses loss weight factor in calculation of power loss, grid synchronization and minimizes power loss during integration, therefore the voltage profile will be improved. This technique help to identify optimal placing of active power filters in the power system network. The PV system model is developed in MATLAB Simulink software and developed the proposed LSF method. A rigorous simulation tests are conducted to test the proposed LSF techniques. The simulation results have shown that the proposed LSF technique is working well in identifying the system requirements and shunt active power filter is working in compensating power quality issues and maintain voltage and current profiles as per standards.
