Abstract
This paper presents the application of the intelligent control technique to three-phase AC/DC pulse-width modulation (PWM) converter. To overcome the nonlinearity of PWM converters, the PWM current control technique is used to derive the switching signals for e converter. Artificial neural networks (ANN) have the capacity to learn the characteristics of a nonlinear system through nonlinear mappings. They are then potential candidates for highly nonlinear dynamical processes control. The proposed intelligent controller improves the dynamics performance of the converter. Also, the performance of the system is independent of the converter parameters and load disturbance which enhance the robustness of the proposed method. To verify the advantages of using the intelligent control method with PWM converter, a proportional integral (PI) controller is compared with the ANN controller. Since the fast voltage control is feasible for load changes, it is shown that the de electrolytic capacitor size can be reduced remarkably. The simulation results show the successful operation of the proposed system and it can be suggested as a suitable method for controlling the power converters.
